We advise all families to contact us as soon as possible when a death does occur. In many cases now when people pass away in hospital, it is not necessary for us to attend immediately, but our staff can give the helpful advice needed to put your mind at ease, and to ensure that the family are aware of everything that needs to be done.

Once the deceased is received into our care we will prepare them for the funeral in accordance with your wishes. Prior to the funeral, many relatives and friends choose to visit their loved one in one of our chapels of rest in Corsham, Chippenham or Melksham, or if appropriate we can bring them back home for a time.  In some cases more extensive preparation is carried out in the form of embalming but we will always explain this process to you and get your consent first.  In most cases, we will enable you to visit up to the day of the funeral.

We will ask you to provide us with clothing for the deceased or they can be attired in one of our special gowns if you prefer.  Please advise us of anything specific regarding the appearance of your loved one and we will do our best to meet your wishes.

Our Chapels of Rest provide an appropriate environment for you to visit your loved one.  These are private rooms where you may spend as long as you wish with them and we have one in each of our locations of Corsham, Chippenham and Melksham. In addition to normal office hours, you may visit during evenings and at weekends.  We kindly request that you telephone in advance in order to make an appointment.
